4/3 – Top Hand Rodeo Tour

Hello and welcome. My name is Katosepe and I’ll be your host for today’s Video Game of the Day.

Today’s game is Top Hand Rodeo Tour, developed by SFC Rodeo Games and released on the Xbox 360 Kinect in 2012.

Top Hand Rodeo Tour has the player use the Kinect to act as though they are in a rodeo with five different events. The five events are Bull Riding, Tie Down Roping, Team Roping, Mounted Shooting and Barrel Racing. While all of the events can be played in competitive multiplayer, Team Roping also allows cooperative gameplay with either an AI or human player.

Players can play their way through 8 different arenas, going from a newbie to a professional level rodeo star. There are also three mini-games involving rope tying, a shooting gallery and riding fences. Along with local multiplayer, the game features leaderboards through Xbox Live so players can compete with their Xbox Live friends for high scores.

Top Hand Rodeo Tour was not submitted for critical review and was likely intended as a casual game for rodeo fans. There are some reviews out there, however, which criticise the game for it’s incredibly sensitive controls and lackluster graphics. Gameplay is also quite shallow with not much on offer beyond casual multiplayer games. Top Hand Rodeo Tour appears to be the only game SFC Rodeo Games ever developed.
